American woman offers skin-scratching service, earns 4,400 baht per hour, creates new happiness, insists it has no sexual connotations

Foreign news agencies reported that scratching the skin has become a business opportunity after people seeking a new way to relax had to shell out hundreds of dollars to receive back-scratching services from professionals.

Tony George, 55, is reportedly the founder and operator of The Scratcher Girls studio in Miami, USA, where he provides a scratching service using his well-cut, three-inch nails, which he uses to scrape down the back, arms, legs, scalp and even inside the ears, charging customers $130 an hour.

Tony believes that this treatment can bring unprecedented relaxation to clients. Many may fall asleep without realizing it, and some may forget themselves and groan comfortably. As word of mouth spreads, the demand for Tony’s services continues to increase. Tony also reveals that she never breaks her nails, explaining that she files them before scratching, and buffs them with soap and a nail brush.

Not only does she have a regular client base in Miami, but she has also expanded to major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. However, the original intention of this service is often misunderstood. There are male clients who request content that goes beyond the scope of the service, such as wanting her to scratch their nipples, lower abdomen, and other parts unwillingly. Her service has nothing to do with that. Although there is no sexual connotation, she often encounters clients who only have “sexy” things on their mind, which makes her feel quite uncomfortable.

The pleasure of scratching is not just about tactile stimulation. The deeper reason is that it can trigger an automatic sensory response in the brain, which is what we often call ASMR. This response makes people feel numb and happy, while at the same time putting the body and mind into a state of deep relaxation. The combination of ASMR and scratching creates a particularly pleasurable experience.

Craig Richards, a professor of biomedical sciences at a US university, points out that gentle scratching can trigger the brain to release “happiness hormones,” which may be why customers are so drawn to scratching services.
