Mathieu Vigier Latour, a 24-year-old business student from France, traveled to Istanbul for an affordable beard transplant.
He paid €1,300 (£1,082) — a fraction of the cost in France. Mathieu hoped to enhance his confidence through the procedure.
However, his journey quickly turned tragic. The operation was carried out by an unqualified estate agent posing as a surgeon.
Mathieu ended up with severe physical and emotional scars.
