Albert Flick, 77, was convicted of murdering Kimberly Dobbie, 48, in 2018, after stabbing her outside a laundromat in Lewiston, Maine, while her 11-year-old twin sons watched.
Flick had a long history of violent behavior, including a 1979 conviction for killing his wife, Sandra, and other violent incidents in the years following.
Despite his violent past, when Flick was sentenced for assault in 2010, Judge Robert Crowley believed that Flick’s age would render him incapable of continuing his violent actions, giving him a sentence of about four years, far less than prosecutors recommended.
This decision was based on the belief that Flick would “age out” of his capacity to engage in such conduct.
However, just four years after his release, Flick was again charged with assassination. A jury convicted him in less than an hour, and he now faces 25 years to life in prison.
