A 65-year-old man named Donald Santacroce was arrested after robbing a bank in Salt Lake City, Utah.
On Monday, Santacroce entered the bank, approached a teller, and handed them a note that stated he was committing a robbery and requested $1.
After the teller complied and gave him the dollar, Santacroce instructed the teller to call the police, as his main goal was to get arrested and sent to federal prison.
He explained to the teller that if he were to be released from prison, he would rob another bank, requesting more money in an effort to be sent back to prison.
This case is not the first instance of a person robbing a bank for only $1; back in 2011, a man in North Carolina committed a similar crime by robbing a bank for $1, with the intent of gaining access to health care while in prison.
