An ambulance hit a biker, took him to the hospital , and then charged him $1,800 for the ride

In Oregon, an ambulance collided with a cyclist, breaking his nose and damaging his bike, and then charged him over $1,800 for the hospital ride, according to a new lawsuit.

William Hoesch, 71, is suing Columbia River Fire & Rescue for nearly $1 million, alleging the ambulance driver left him with serious injuries, including permanent damage and about $100,000 in medical expenses.

The incident occurred in October 2022 in Rainier, Oregon, when the ambulance, traveling at speeds between 2 mph and 10 mph, struck Hoesch while attempting a turn, crushing him.

The driver stopped, rushed Hoesch to the hospital, but the crash left him bleeding, destroyed his bike, and caused lasting injuries, including limited movement and reduced grip.

To make matters worse, the ambulance company billed him $1,862 for the ride.
