Revealed at CES 2025, the “Future Immersive Entertainment Concept” (FIEC) includes a large, room-sized setup designed to make gaming more immersive. A demo video shows a huge cube made of LED screens where players can step into their favorite games. However, this is not something you’ll be putting in your living room anytime soon.

In the demo, players explore the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us with advanced sound, visuals, and smell-o-vision, creating a whole new gaming experience. Sony says this project combines LED panels, sound, touch feedback, smells, and atmospheric effects to fully immerse players in the game.

While some were impressed, others questioned the idea of smelling the grim world of The Last of Us. Many players joked they didn’t want to smell games at all, suggesting something like pizza in Cooking Mama might have been a better starting point.

The concept is based on a PlayStation scent-gaming patent filed four years ago, but it’s unclear if gamers will embrace this new feature.
